Becki Newton

Becki Newton, who was born at New Haven in Connecticut, was raised within Guilford the state of Connecticut. She is of English and Czech heritage and first began to perform productions, plays and musicals in local theaters, and studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her B.A. in European History. In the University of Penn, Newton was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Newton, after graduating from Penn in 2006, relocated from Penn to New York City where she landed roles on television for corporations like Olive Garden. Newton was Amanda Tanen from 2006-2010 in the comedy drama series Ugly Betty. Alongside co-star Michael Urie, Newton co-hosted the Ugly Betty podcast, which was created by Michael Urie. She also appeared on ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode Show. Ugly Betty, which had the distinction of having four seasons that were successful, was cancelled in 2010. The cancellation allowed the show to have a final season. The show premiered in late 2009. Newton was featured in an New York City Center Encores! Jerry Zaks was the director of this Gershwin production, Girl Crazy. She portrayed Molly Gray and performed opposite her husband, real life Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton appeared on the tv series Love Bites. The romantic comedy of an hour was conceived by executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC had first announced plans to acquire Love Bites in May 2010.
